At the Julian House Bike Workshop, we are passionate about all things cycling. We are dedicated to helping individuals and communities through the power of bicycles. With years of experience and a team of skilled mechanics, we provide a wide range of services to cyclists of all levels. All profits we make are passed onto the Julian House Charity who look after vulnerable and at-risk people across the South West. Below is a list of the many areas we’re involved in:
Refurbished bikes
We offer a wide selection of quality refurbished bikes. Our collection includes tandems, road bikes, mountain bikes, hybrid bikes, bikes for teenagers and children and everything in between.
We are committed to providing excellent value for money by offering top-notch refurbished bikes at affordable prices. Each bike goes through a meticulous refurbishment process, ensuring that it is in excellent working condition before being made available for sale.

Gift vouchers
Gift Vouchers are a simple and convenient way to buy for bike-mad friends, family or work colleagues when you aren’t quite sure what they might need. Your vouchers will be e-mailed directly to you, or you can choose to have them emailed to the lucky recipient on the date of your choosing.
They are redeemable against anything we sell (excluding the cycle-to-work scheme) so that includes new bikes, refurbished bikes, maintenance courses and e-bike hire.
Maintenance courses
Are you passionate about cycling and want to become more self-sufficient when it comes to taking care of your bike? Our bike maintenance courses are designed to empower cyclists of all levels with the knowledge and skills needed to keep their bikes in top shape.
Our courses are open to all and require no previous experience. We have two areas the courses look at – Brakes & Tyres and The Drive train. We also hold women’s only courses.
Build-a-bike
Build-a-Bike is a four-week project-based course that has been developed in collaboration with Julian House service users. The course is intended for people with a history of homelessness, an offending background, substance misuse needs or long-term unemployment.
Build-a-Bike is a hands-on course that teaches all the skills needed to safely maintain a bike. Participants work with a workshop mechanic to fully dismantle a bike and rebuild it from its component parts. One-to-one support is available to make sure that people get the most out of their time on the course. Once the four-week course is completed, participants get to keep the bike that they have built along with a portfolio containing records of their work and an attendance certificate, as well as AQA Certificates.
Cycle to work scheme
Green Commute Initiative is the only UK cycle-to-work scheme to offer bikes with NO £1,000 limit which means that scheme participants can chose an E-bike (or a conventional bike). Employees can save up to 47% (depending on their tax band) and employers can save up to 13.8%.
Dr. Bike
Dr. Bike is a mobile workshop that brings bicycle maintenance facilities to your events, schools or offices.
The Dr. Bike pop-up workshop fits into our van along with a skilled mechanic and gazebo if necessary. Dr. Bike is ideal for one-day events where you want to show your commitment to caring for cyclists.
Smoothie bike hire
The perfect cycle and nutritional related fun for your corporate event, school fete or party. Within seconds you’ll be making delicious smoothies with our big and small smoothie bikes.
Volunteering
We love our volunteers, without them we wouldn’t be able to refurbish all the bikes we need for our bike and charity shops. However it’s not just hobbyist bike mechanics we’re looking for, our volunteers get involved in many other areas, from helping out with our ebay store to regularly driving to the scrap metal yard or helping to keep the workshops tidy to looking after the front of house.
